Volunteer

The Fischoff Competition features 110 remarkable performances over the course of just three days. To be a success, the Competition depends upon the help of approximately 100 dedicated community volunteers.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of shifts:

Green Room Greeter & Monitor – Greet ensembles, monitor room, watch belongings while ensembles are in their warm-up rooms and performing.

Warm-up Supervisor – Walk ensembles from the Green Room to their warm-up room, then backstage prior to their performance.

Stage Manager – Set the stage for each ensemble (set chairs, music stands, and assist staff with piano moving, if needed). Stage diagrams are provided for each ensemble.

Performance Supervisor – Sit near the jury and assist with timing performances.

Registration – On Friday morning, assist Fischoff staff by registering ensembles, distributing packets, and checking IDs.

Important Information:

  • Each shift is approximately 3 hours long, training is provided, and no musical ability or musical knowledge is required.
  • Attire is business casual, and comfortable shoes are a must!
  • Volunteers are needed at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center and O’Neill Hall of Music on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
  • Shifts are available beginning on Friday morning and continuing throughout the rest of the weekend. Friday is the day when we need the most help – from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you have the time, we can find a shift for you!

The Fischoff Competition connects two extraordinary sets of people – the musicians who compete and the volunteers who help make the weekend happen. We’d love for you to join us!
