DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special masterclass with the internationally acclaimed Verona Quartet — Jonathan Ong and Dorothy Ro\, violins; Abigail Rojansky\, viola; and Jonathan Dormand\, cello — on Wednesday\, November 13\, from 5:45–7:15 PM in the Michuda Rehearsal Room\, 3rd floor\, O’Neill Hall of Music at the University of Notre Dame.\n\nPraised by The New York Times as an “outstanding ensemble…cohesive yet full of temperament” and currently Quartet-in-Residence at Oberlin Conservatory\, the Verona Quartet has performed on the world’s leading stages\, from Carnegie Hall to Wigmore Hall. Four Fischoff Chamber Music Academy ensembles will have the opportunity to perform and learn with them in this interactive session.\nFree and open to the public — all are welcome to observe!

DESCRIPTION:Verona Quartet performs an interactive musical retelling of David Shannon’s A Bad Case of Stripes as part of the St. Joseph County Public Library’s Explore-a-Story event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplore-a-Story is an annual early literacy event where each year SJCPL will focus on a new book to help build early literacy skills. Come and enjoy an immersive storytelling experience along with various activities to follow the performance. All ages are welcome to attend. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFischoff’s S.A.M. I Am\, Stories & Music program\, reinforces the joy of reading through the power of music. Using music to crack open language and storytelling\, Fischoff Educator Award winner\, Verona Quartet\, will perform A Bad Case of Stripes\, a colorful\, imaginative book by Caldecott Honor-winning author and illustrator David Shannon. Join us for this fun\, fantastical tale as Camila Cream learns how to become comfortable in her own skin\, followed by activities and a meet-and-greet. \n\n2:30-3:30pm: Free\, all ages performance in Leighton Auditorium \n3:30-4:30pm: Hands-on activities\, book giveaway\, and meet-and greet-in the Community Center Ballroom \n\nThis Fischoff Arts-in-Education Residency performance is made possible in part with support from the Moore Foundation and the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County.
