Gala Auction Painting by Abner Hershberger
Abner Hershberger’s Gift
Artist Abner Hershberger has graciously gifted his painting, Heritage Field as Color, to the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association. The painting's companion piece currently hangs in the Rockefeller Hall Gallery at Harvard Divinity School.
Located in South Bend, Indiana, the Fischoff annually presents the world’s largest chamber music competition. The image of Heritage Field as Color will grace the cover of the 2015 Fischoff Competition’s national poster. It will also be placed on the cover of the Fischoff Competition program book.
The painting will be auctioned on January 25, 2014, as part of Fischoff’s Winter Gala, which will take place at the University of Notre Dame.
Email bids are being accepted for those who would like to bid on this amazing work prior to the auction. The opening bid is $1,500. Please email your maximum bid to Ann Divine, Executive Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Email participants will be notified regarding the status of bidding. Email bids will be taken until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. If no higher bids are received at the gala, the highest email bid wins.
Proceeds of the sale will be used to help fund Fischoff’s educational programs, which have brought imaginative musical encounters to more than 56,000 community children.
The Fischoff organization is deeply appreciative of Mr. Hershberger’s gift. He joins a long line of distinguished artists who have helped the Fischoff in this unique way. To those who bid, we thank you for your support, as well.
The Midwest flatland reveals stark markings of furrowed land, fields of stubble, and patterns of irrigation. It is a constant source for artistic reflection. Abstracted, these colorfully expressed sections seem to coexist peacefully, despite their diversity.
