Mentoring & Artist of the Month

Overview

Fischoff's mentoring and scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support motivated high school musicians.  Students throughout Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan may apply for free professional ensemble mentoring/coaching and scholarships to continue their pursuit of music education.

The Mentoring Project

The Mentoring Project provides an opportunity for regional high school chamber ensembles to receive coaching by professional area musicians at no charge. Each year, 4-7 ensembles from Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan participate in coaching sessions and a public recital, as well as perform for service organizations and community events. Some participants are encouraged to enter the Fischoff Competition with their coach's recommendation.

2011-2012 Ensembles include:

  • Apollo Quartet
  • Euphoria Horn Trio
  • Kingsmen Quartet
  • Nocturne String Quartet
  • Sorin String Quartet
  • Trio Veliero

2011-2012 Coaches include:

  • Jason Glashauser
  • Jacob Murphy
  • Luke Cook
  • Nora R. Frisk
  • Jameson Cooper
  • Luis Vargas

If your ensemble would like to participate in Fischoff's Mentoring Project, please review the project guidelines and download the application here.

Artist of the Month

Fischoff's Artist-of-the-Month program recognizes the achievements of outstanding high school musicians within the Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan region. Each month, a selection committee honors a student for his/her musicianship and citizenship. Winners are recognized in The South Bend Tribune, The Elkhart Truth, or The Goshen News. Winners receive a $100.00 scholarship. Interested high school students residing within a 50-mile radius of South Bend, Indiana, may download the Artist of the Month application here.
